The Magista
Documentation
The Magista is an emotional, 2D side-scrolling adventure game set in a ruined world. For 15 years, a mysterious and corrupting dust has blocked out the sun and destroyed plant life. You play as "The Wanderer," a brave survivor wearing a wide-brimmed black hat, a red scarf, and a sweeping cloak. The dust has changed the world, but it has also given the Wanderer superhuman jumping abilities.

The Objective
Your main goal is to retrace the steps of your father, who left 15 years ago to find the "magina"—a legendary cure—and to locate pristine, glowing Magista Trees that have survived the rot. The journey takes you across four dangerous zones, ultimately leading to a bittersweet ending where the Wanderer makes a brave sacrifice to leave the cure (and hope) behind for the next traveler.

The Obstacles

Corrupted Creatures: You will face various enemies changed by the dust, such as Rats, Shamblers, Feral Dogs, and tricky camouflaged enemies in the forest.

Hazardous Environments: You will have to avoid diseased patches of ground that drain your health, as well as navigate confusing areas like the dark, murky swamp.

The Deterioration System: The biggest obstacle is the Wanderer's own failing strength. Halfway through the game, traveling through the "Forest of Suffering" causes an unavoidable infection. As you progress, your maximum health shrinks, your walk slows to a limp, and your stamina drains much faster.

Core Mechanics

Heavy Platforming: The game features fast-paced running and explosive, heavy jumps to leap over gaps and dodge enemies.

Stamina-Based Combat: You can swing weapons (like a heavy cleaver) to defend yourself, but you have to manage your energy carefully. You have a stamina bar that allows for exactly 4 swings. If you use it all up, you become "exhausted" and cannot attack for 5 seconds while your character catches their breath.

Diegetic Exploration: There is very little screen clutter. Instead, prompts hover over your character's head when you can interact with things like pristine apples (which heal you), discarded lore notes, or Magista Sprouts (which act as save points).
