Match point: Grand Slam Tennis is a tennis simulation game where players create their own professional tennis player and compete in a career mode inspired by the ATP Tour. The aim is to rise through the world rankings, improve your abilities through training, and eventually become a Grand Slam champion.
At the beginning of the game, players customise their character by choosing a name, hairstyle, hair colour, and shirt colour. They start their career as a rising tennis player ranked outside the world’s elite and must work their way towards the top by competing in tournaments and winning matches.
The game includes all four Grand Slam tournaments: the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open. Each tournament has its own court colours, atmosphere, branding, and playing surface. Players progress through different rounds, including qualifying matches, quarter finals, semi finals, and finals, while facing increasingly challenging opponents.
The gameplay is based on realistic tennis mechanics. Players can move around the court and choose between three different shot types: flat shots, topspin shots, and slice shots. Flat shots travel quickly and are useful for attacking, topspin shots bounce higher and provide greater control, while slice shots stay low and can make life difficult for opponents. The ball follows realistic physics and reacts differently depending on the shot type, spin, court surface, and angle of contact.
A special Power Shot feature adds excitement to rallies. Every third shot becomes a powerful winner that travels at extremely high speed and is much harder for opponents to return. This creates opportunities for aggressive play and dramatic point winning moments.
The game features intelligent computer controlled opponents who move around the court, anticipate shots, and adapt their tactics during rallies. Different opponents have different strengths and weaknesses, creating a variety of challenges throughout the career mode.
Players can also train in a dedicated gym mode to improve their abilities. Training activities include treadmill running, weightlifting, and agility exercises. These improve important attributes such as Speed, Power, and Spin. As players become stronger, they perform better in matches and can climb the ATP rankings more quickly.
Training mode allows players to compete against famous tennis legends including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. Each legend has unique playing characteristics based on their real life strengths. Federer relies on an elegant all court game, Nadal uses powerful topspin and relentless determination, while Djokovic excels through exceptional movement and defence.
The game includes detailed tennis courts with different surfaces such as grass, clay, and hard court. Animated crowds, stadium lighting, scoreboards, sound effects, and victory celebrations help create the atmosphere of a professional tennis tournament. Players can track their ranking, monitor their progress, and unlock increasingly difficult challenges as they move towards becoming world number one.
After winning a Grand Slam tournament, players are rewarded with a championship ceremony featuring trophies, celebrations, cheering crowds, and special animations. These moments mark the culmination of the player’s journey from an unknown newcomer to one of the best tennis players in the world.
Match point combines realistic tennis gameplay, player customisation, career progression, training systems, famous tennis legends, tournament competition, and immersive presentation to create an exciting and rewarding tennis experience where every match contributes to the pursuit of Grand Slam success.
